What you're going to need to do this course...
Hello! Please watch the video and listen to the audio below or read what's underneath. Your choice :)

Or read!
Every single one of you could do this whether you're a hobby painter or a professional. You'll learn something no matter what.
To implement it you will have to be willing to paint, create, document, and share often throughout the process. You can buy the course and implement it when you are ready. Depending on your life and your personality you'll be able to dive in straight away or take it at a more considered pace. Either is fine because we're creating something personal to connect with your audience and ultimately sell your work, and this isn't something you just do once. You'll start to see what works for you and build a version of consistent marketing and that may not be what you think it is right now!
Are you very new to painting and feeling overwhelmed by the choice of direction and how to go about selling your work?
Maybe you're bored or a bit uninspired by what you are doing with your painting right now or slightly bogged down by a much larger project. Perhaps you just feel like you want a break to explore something new.
You're probably keen to grow your social media presence and make money.
If any of these are true for you then Hot Cakes is for you!
What does the course involve
Taking this course will be great for you if you'd like to create a collection of small-scale paintings over a few weeks while sharing your process with your online audience, attracting potential buyers, growing your mailing list, and ultimately, selling your work.
There are no guarantees but if you sell just one painting you will have received your course fee back. You'll also have created your personal marketing strategy to follow and adapt. There are printable pdfs. to inspire your marketing and help you develop this and suggestions on how your human design makes certain strategies more suited to you.
You'll have lifetime access to this self-paced course as long as I run it. While you are active in the course you can ask me any question 1 to 1 via the chat box you see in the lower right of the screen.
There will also be a group here on Brave in Paint in my free membership exclusively for anyone taking Hot Cakes who wants to share their work for second opinions or questions. If you want my thoughts specifically on your work this is where you would do that.
Some of the videos are taken from my Experimental Still-life course. If you decide to take ESL you can offset the cost of this course against that course. Message me for a discount code. You can find out all about that course here.
What this course is not and who it's not for
If you are currently selling work in galleries or only want to sell in galleries then Hot Cakes isn't for you. I sell in galleries and direct, so if you're like me it is suitable!
If you don't have a mailing list or won't set one up then this course is going to be frustrating for you as having one is a key strategy to selling, especially if you don't have a website.
If you're only interested in learning to paint then you'd be better off taking Experimental Still Life. However, you do see me paint five small still-life paintings from start to finish with my live commentary throughout and you'll learn a lot about my process through watching that.
On the other hand, you might always paint from life, be a collage artist or an abstract painter. Create a project that excites you. While you can be experimental at any scale, working on a small scale is going to allow you to create more paintings and expand on what's working more quickly, creating a satisfying body of work. So here is your chance.
If you have never made a painting before and don't know where to start this isn't the course for you...however, you will learn about marketing artwork and attracting buyers and you'll also pick up painting tips. You could plan a future strategy while on the course and implement it later when you feel confident with your painting.
Watch a raw honest journey through my painting process as I work intuitively, make mistakes, and adjust things. I'm not teaching you what to paint, that's your decision and has to come from you. I am happy for you to paint small still life paintings but please create your own compositions etc. The work I do in this class is from my imagination and if that inspires you, you are welcome to create an intuitive still-life collection as your "Hot Cakes!"
I talk about how to price your work in detail in this course.

I'll be cheering you on!

What you will need to take this course:
a notebook or journal to write your thoughts - paper or digital but ideally portable
sketchbooks or loose paper for your first explorations
your choice of small-sized substrate to paint on such as wood panels/cradled boards/high-quality watercolour paper ( I discuss what might be right for you)
art materials that you already have or want to use
a mailing list to add people to (I talk about the options and what I use)
an Instagram or Facebook page or other social media that is already working for you
a way to offer work for sale that enables you to take payment online ( this could be PayPal capability that you can send invoices from, your current website, or perhaps a blog where share your work with details on how to contact you to buy )

P.S the painting videos add up to about 170mins watch time, there's a short talking head video for each lesson between 5 and 10 minutes long and audio you could listen to instead.
