Module 3 - Let's explore

Let yourself explore for the sake of it during this module, with a curious attitude, rather than aiming for something complete each time. This is your foundational experimental section.

Take a playful attitude and begin with what excites you or that you want to investigate most or you could choose work through every exercise, systematically one by one. Concentrate on anything that sparks an idea or simply appeals most. This could be an amalgam of a few approaches, perhaps as part of several giant sketch paintings or you could decide only to work in your sketchbook exploring your paint and what you can do with it varying the ways you apply paint, choosing to depict just a few objects so that you focus on the application of paint.

Continue exploring colour relationships as you experiment with layering values and different thicknesses of paint; try out mediums and glazing; make monoprints; try blind painting and at some point during the module, try to paint without brushes.

There will be many things I don't explore but you can - if it occurs to you then it's possible for you. Go there! Use twigs or leaves to draw/paint with for example. I wonder what you can come up with.

Keep notes in your art journal on anything that you really enjoy - so that you can deliberately aim at replicating it again.

Share some of what you are up to in the optional group or below in the course comments. It's always inspiring and helpful.

Keep up your daily meditation and drawing!
