Module 8 - Practical Tips

There are no exercises for this module, it's a bonus section with my take on running your art practice as a business or perhaps a hobby. It's certainly not a definitive guide and many of you will already have access to courses or memberships that do a great job of this.

Please do feel free to comment under each section if you have ideas to add and helpful contributions. That would be wonderful.

Some of you are here to paint only and that's fine. I would still suggest that you take photos of your work no matter what sort of artist you are because it could be that you will impulsively sell something and regret that you don't have a record of it. More on that later!

Here I'm exploring best studio practice, varnishing, photography, framing and selling your work.

I'd like this module to be an interactive one with students suggesting their own solutions to problems and we can deepen the discussion on Facebook or in the community here. Ask me questions too. Whenever you're active in the course that is part of my offering to you. If I can help you I will.

As with all the material in the course, it will be updated from time to time. As a member of Experimental Still Life you also have access to my mini course Hot Cakes that feature the small scale painting that you've already seen in an earlier module. Where it's different is in the ideas it offers you on promoting your work, taking into account your human design and subsequent approaches to marketing. You will find this mini course in your profile area.
